It’s affecting every school in northwest Ohio. Of the 38 calendar days so far in 2014; Napoleon Area Schools have spent 13 of those in the classroom. Frigid temperatures and snow have been the combination that has pumped-up the total calamity days this school year, into double digits.
At this point, Napoleon Area Schools will be tacking these extra days on at the end of the year. But there is also a concern about getting seniors enough classroom days before they’re scheduled to graduate on Memorial Day weekend. The Ohio legislature is also working to allow more calamity days this year; but nothing has been finalized.
