Napoleon city council received a pleasant surprise at their Monday meeting, when a court settlement was announced.  Napoleon had joined a national lawsuit against the makers of the herbicide Atrazine; which sought a monetary payment due to that cancer-causing chemical being in some community water supplies.   Atrazine is flushed from fields into streams that lead into the drinking water for some cities.   Napoleon has recorded only trace amounts of this chemical in their water; but received over $348,000 from the 105-million dollar national lawsuit.  Napoleon Council authorized those funds to go to the water department; to help in further eliminating that chemical from drinking water.
