The Henry County Commissioners have approved placing a levy on the May ballot for Hope Services.  This tax issue would be a 2-mill replacement levy designed to generate about 1.2 million dollars annually, over a period of five years.  The current levy for Hope Services provides about $802,000 each year.    This replacement levy revenue would help Hope Services pay for operating and maintaining residential and adult service facilities; along with providing support services for infants, children, and adults with developmental disabilities.   This replacement levy is proposed for the May 7^th election in Henry County.

Commissioners have also sent a letter to the Ohio EPA, informing them that the Henry County landfill will cease its normal operations, in accepting solid waste on May 3^rd of this year.  Henry County citizens will still be able to bring waste to the landfill site; but only as a transfer station.   That waste would then be transported to another solid waste facility in the area.

            All the current space at the landfill will reach capacity by May 3^rd; and the Henry County Commissioners have decided not to pay for an expansion at the current facility, due to the excessive cost for permits, licensing, and construction.
