For most of the month of February, the regional jail was at an inmate population of 600, which is over 90% of capacity.  On one of the days last week, the city of Toledo and Lucas County were shut-out of jail beds due to hitting their allotment.                     The monthly report from CCNO indicated there were 132 inmates on electronic monitoring.   Funds received from that program will help purchase two vehicles for the regional jail staff.  And four alcohol monitoring units were approved for purchase, along with 20 GPS units which keep tabs on inmates on release.

                        CCNO is offering a training class to area law enforcement officers, teachers, and mental health officials.  The focus is on the current drug culture and its impact on children.

                        Discussion at the regional jail board meeting centered around correction center boards obtaining bonds to finance construction projects.  This would require legislative action at the state level.

And Joel Stevens of Bryan was named the CCNO employee of the year, working in the maintenance department.
