Some official dialogue is expected to get underway today, as Henry County seeks to acquire the current CD Brillhart Elementary building as a senior center. That school facility was slated for demolition; as Napoleon moves toward a central elementary building along Westmoreland Avenue, in their current construction project. In a meeting scheduled for this afternoon, the Napoleon area schools will host representatives from the Henry County Senior Center, county commissioners, and Napoleon city administration. Napoleon Area Schools received money from the Ohio School Facilities Commission for their building project, with some of those dollars earmarked for demolition of old buildings. If the CD Brillhart facility is turned into a senior center; that would eliminate demolition costs for the Napoleon school district. But there are also issues to consider, in upgrading the CD Brillhart building for senior center use. A fund for a new facility for Henry County senior citizens has already been established, and is available for donations.
