The five-year financial forecast and personnel action headlined the Monday meeting for the Liberty Center school board of education. That financial projection keeps Liberty Center’s budget in the black through 2018; but deficit spending is already beginning to eat-away at the cash balance. A state funding increase of 6.25% is projected for Liberty Center, heading toward 2015. But health insurance costs are expected to rise by 10% over the next five years. Cost savings in re-organization of the building, and changing nursing service to a contract with the Henry County Hospital will save about $80,000.
The Liberty Center board was considering a fill-in project for the ditch at the Spring sports complex; but have tabled that action.
The board accepted the resignation of Kim Maneval as a bus driver; and Rachel Like was hired to replace her.
Deb Westhoven was moved –up on the salary scale due to increased education; and Karen Grove will serve as the after school teacher at the 5th grade level. In coaching positions, Troy Westhoven will serve as assistant varsity wrestling coach, Kimberly Meyer replaces Sara Leatherman as JV girls basketball coach; and Sarah Sweet is the Wrestlerette advisor.
And the Liberty Center school board accepted the resignation of Lois Ward as custodian, effective in February; after serving the district for 27 years.
